Second class (2nd period)

Describe
What I noticed in the lesson is that students participated more. At first, they were shy. However, after the warm-up their attitude changed completely. They were more active in the class. Consequently, they spoke more. The environment was really nice since I talked with some students. There was a good rapport. The materials I used in this class were the board, markers and pieces of paper.

Ss were more active since I was not a new person for them.

Also, I felt comfortable to talk with some of them when they were performing a speaking activity.

I think rapport is really helpful in the class because students feel comfortable for speaking in the class.

Rapport helps in the class because students speak more in the class, and they feel comfortable for asking questions or making comments.

Based on what I already know about rapport, I think creating rapport in the class helps to develop a good environment and create a good relationship between teacher-students.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally felt comfortable for speaking in the class, and for making comments.

I believe that rapport can help students learning because they become more active in the process of learning.

So, in the future, I will not give the back to my students since it is a sign of insecurity.

In future lessons I will be more prepare with my topic and.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will try to introduce the activities relating them with words or phrases that they have already learned in the class.

In future experiences I will also include a technique for making all the students to participate in the class.

First Class (2nd period)

Describe
What I saw in the slice of lesson was that students felt unmotivated and uninterested at the beginning of the class. Even, I said good morning and nobody answer. It was really difficult to make students speak in the whole class. The warm-up was really nice because I think they really liked it. I was called spider’s web, and they had to present themselves.  Then, they had to solve a fill in the blanks about the reported speech. However, when I asked for the answers, no one wanted to participate, so I had to call them by their names in order to make them speak. Then, they developed a role play; I monitored them to check if they were working on it. However, when they passed to the front, some of them just said like two sentences, and that was all. After that, I taught them some vocabulary. In this case, they participated a lot because they had to describe some pictures. The materials I used in this class were, the cd player, the book, the board, markers, and pictures.

Personally, I believe that the attitude of the students were because they lack of vocabulary, and they are shy. Hence, they felt afraid of speaking. Those factors affected the class.
I think they are shy because they lack of enthusiasm. Maybe for some of them English is difficult.
Having a positive attitude is really important as it helps the students to have a significant learning in the class. Also, the teacher should have a positive attitude toward the students in order to learn because they will be bored or tired afraid of speaking in the class.

Based on what I already know about attitude is that having a positive attitude helps either the students or the teacher
Based on what I observed, I think students generally felt uncomfortable for speaking, and for participating in the class.

So, in the future, I will be more motivated so that can participate more in the class.
The next time I teach this lesson, I will bring more material as charts and pictures for making the class interesting for the learners.

In future experiences I will also apply a different kind of seating arrangement n the class.

My last class

Describe
What I observed in this slice of lesson is that students were bored, and tired. Hence, I decided to do an activity in the basketball field about categories. Students were really excited. Then, I explained grammatical part about the modal must. In this case I tried not to show my back to the students, so that they can pay attention. Also, I used the substitution drill since they get really bored just listening to the explanation, so in this case they could practice a lot in the grammar part. Then, I developed an activity related with health problems in which the students had to guess which the symptom was. Then, students had to discuss some questions about health problems related with experiences they already had.

I learned about the importance of not giving the back to the students when writing, so teachers avoid disorder in the class, you can monitor your students while explaining and they pay more attention.

I think students really learned in the grammar part since I paid more attention to them. Also, the substitution drill helped me a lot, and Students practiced with just with one sentence.

I think that when you pay attention to the learners in the grammar part, they cannot be distracted easily because the students are being monitored. Consequently, you can call their attention.

Monitoring the students is really helpful in the class. It helps students to not being distracted. Moreover, the teacher is benefited since the students are focus on what he is explaining.

Based on what I already know about monitoring, I think it helps not only for calling the attention, but also for knowing more you students.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally pay more attention when the teacher makes eye contact, and when they are called by their names. Students appreciate being calling by their names.

I believe that when students are called by their names, it can help students learning as they will feel motivated to speak in the class. The teacher is seen as an authority in the class, so students do not show it, but they really like when the teacher knows their names.

So, in the future, I will implement more techniques for catching the students’ attention.

In future lessons I will memorize the students’ name by writing them in pieces of paper

The next time I teach this lesson, I will give directions after the students are completely in silent.

In future experiences I will also include 3 verbs in the instructions.
