My last class

Describe
What I observed in this slice of lesson is that students were bored, and tired. Hence, I decided to do an activity in the basketball field about categories. Students were really excited. Then, I explained grammatical part about the modal must. In this case I tried not to show my back to the students, so that they can pay attention. Also, I used the substitution drill since they get really bored just listening to the explanation, so in this case they could practice a lot in the grammar part. Then, I developed an activity related with health problems in which the students had to guess which the symptom was. Then, students had to discuss some questions about health problems related with experiences they already had.

I learned about the importance of not giving the back to the students when writing, so teachers avoid disorder in the class, you can monitor your students while explaining and they pay more attention.

I think students really learned in the grammar part since I paid more attention to them. Also, the substitution drill helped me a lot, and Students practiced with just with one sentence.

I think that when you pay attention to the learners in the grammar part, they cannot be distracted easily because the students are being monitored. Consequently, you can call their attention.

Monitoring the students is really helpful in the class. It helps students to not being distracted. Moreover, the teacher is benefited since the students are focus on what he is explaining.

Based on what I already know about monitoring, I think it helps not only for calling the attention, but also for knowing more you students.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally pay more attention when the teacher makes eye contact, and when they are called by their names. Students appreciate being calling by their names.

I believe that when students are called by their names, it can help students learning as they will feel motivated to speak in the class. The teacher is seen as an authority in the class, so students do not show it, but they really like when the teacher knows their names.

So, in the future, I will implement more techniques for catching the students’ attention.

In future lessons I will memorize the students’ name by writing them in pieces of paper

The next time I teach this lesson, I will give directions after the students are completely in silent.

In future experiences I will also include 3 verbs in the instructions.
