Describe
What I noticed in the first 3 minutes of the class was
that students were kind of bored while doing the warm-up which was lips
reader. Some students were talking, and some others were paying attention.
The environment was nice. They participated in the activities. The arrangement of the classroom was the
traditional one. The material I used were markers, board and a chart to
explain grammar.

I used complex sentences in the warm-up, so students
were frustrated since they didn’t guess any sentence.
I think that we have to adequate the sentences
according to the kind of warm-up we will develop.
This is really important because activities cannot work
because they are not adequate for Student’s level.
|
Based on what I already know about explaining
grammar, I think teachers have to make them participate in this part of the
class.
Based on what I observed, I think students generally
pay more attention in they are involved in the grammar part
I believe that involving students in the grammar
section can help students to have a meaningful learning
|
So, in the future, I will involve my students in the
grammar part by encourage them to create their own sentences.
In future lessons I will adequate the sentences to
the students’ level.

ResponderEliminarHello nice warm up :) I like the idea of the warm up "lips reader" in fact, I am going to use it in some of my classes. However, we learn from our mistakes girl because the warm up would have worked better with shorter and simple sentences for motaving students in the class. Nice way to explain grammar because you had student's attention :)
ResponderEliminarHi, there! It seems that you had a great time during your grammar explanation, but not in the warm-up. I consider that you are right when stating that Ss put more attention when they are in the grammar part rather than other parts of the class. It's so nice that you really made them work here. On the other hand, I´d highlight that adequating our activities according to students' proficiency level is an outstanding tool to have better results and get nearby our expectations as teachers. It usually happens to me that I used very advanced vocabulary at any level, even in Basic, and Ss get extremely confused and afraid of me. So, it would be nice that we accomodate, in future classes, the English level of Ss as well as the one used by the teacher in the activities, explanations, and directions! Keep your chin up, my dear friend! :D :3
ResponderEliminarHello Carmen. Sure! Next time I will use shorter sentences. It's nice that you wil use the warm-up in your class.
ResponderEliminarHello Miss!! I think it is nice to take students's examples when we have already explained the grammar part because in that way, we can see if students really understood the topic by creating their own sentences. I have done the same, and it really works!! Nice job :)
